With the Rolling Stones

Despite originally thinking that he was being brought in as a session musician, Mick Taylor was subsequently asked to join the Rolling Stones as Brian Jones's replacement. He worked with the band on five studio albums, from his overdubs on Let It Bleed to his work on It's Only Rock 'n Roll (1974). However, he left the band in December 1974, the main reason being that he was not given due credit for his writing contribution to songs on the albums, especially on It's Only Rock 'n Roll. In fact, the only song Taylor is credited with is joint credits with Jagger/Richards on Ventilator Blues, featuring on Exile on Main St. (1972). Taylor has said that this was only one of his reasons for leaving, summising that he had generally just 'had enough' and had never seen himself as a permanent fixture in the band.
