The Sun has reported that the Rolling Stones are in talks about a tour with promoters Live Nation. The tour would go on well into 2012, marking the band's 50th anniversary.

A source told the Sun: "They're likely to perform in stadiums. It's almost certainly the last full-scale world tour. The band realise that age is creeping up on them. They want to bow out on top of their game, and not short-change their fans."

UPDATE: Ronnie Wood reveals: Stones ARE planning a tour, but it will not be the last one - "We have all agreed this wonÂ’t be the last time. EveryoneÂ’s rocking. WeÂ’ll rock 'till we drop!"

UPDATE: A Rolling Stones representative has said that the rumours circulating of their retirement are "not true".
