On a T.V. interview with BBC star, Jonathan Ross, Johnny Depp has revealed that his plans to create a documentary on the life of Keith Richards have been initiated. As we all know, Depp is a big fan of Richards and the Stones, even basing his character, Captain Jack Sparrow, on the unique image of the rock legend - such that, as a tribute to him, Keith Richards was given a small role in the latest Pirates of the Caribbean film.
Ross: Keith Richards of course appeared in the last of the Caribbean movies.
Depp: Yes
Ross: And you're a huge admirer [of him], and you're making a film about him, aren't you?
Depp: It's a thing that we have talked about for a number of years now, and we finally had a moment for the two of us to get together and do like a first instalment, if you will, and so basically all it is is exactly what Keith and I have been doing over the years: sitting around in hotel rooms talking, having a drink, and we've documented it. So, it's something we're doing together. We did five days and it went extremely well. It was just incredible.
Ross: Are there times still though, even though you're comfortable with what you are and who you are, when you think, "I'm sitting opposite Keith Richards." Do you still have that feeling?
Depp: Oh, yeah I have it all the time. Yes. You know, when he starts bringing up the things like, you know, the early days of the Stones, and, you know, being whisked out of hotels through laundry chutes and things like that.
Ross: there must be some chunks of that period that he can't remember, I imagine.
Depp: I gotta say, you know, he's got a pretty good memory of what he did.
Ross: I saw the first Pirates of the Carribean and released that you were partly 'doing a Keef'. The idea that you might be onscreen together was an exciting one, and then when it finally came to be - what a great moment.
